Copying from a tapre-recorder!

Hi
My boss got a little voice recorder for taking memos for someone (guess who) to type-up afterwards. What program would be easiest for copying onto computer? Also which colour hole do i plug the lead into on the mbord panel at the back of the machine?

It looks like it needs a standard 3.5mm(?) jack to plug into the "olympus digital voice recorder VN-750". I can probably wangle one of these from somewhere and i guess i plug the device-end into it's ear-socket but i don't know which hole to plug the computer-end into.

Sorry i am a bit hopeless about this! I'm not a complete noob to Gnu&Linux but i have managed to avoid the command-line (mostly, although i'm happy there but just don't know commands). I have mostly just used point&click.
Regards from
Tom

Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! a tape!!!
Okay, 4give me, pls.
Right, as you (between the lines) pointed out, the secret is the lead. Hooking up to the right color is key...but, you're there already.

I'd go with Audacity. There may be others, Audacity is simple and easy to manage.

And, by the way, as soon as it's your boss' birthday, give him a recorder that uses MP3...

Any MP3 player has a microphone built in...to record stuff...

Luck!

Hi
So that is light-blue for stereo-in rather than pink for mic i assume? Audacity rings a bell. Hmmm, now i look at the device it has no room for tape but it doesn't have any usb or other useful computer connections either so it might as well be tape.

Thanks chap!
I think that is problem solved now

It is digital but as stated does not have any sort of computer interface.

so it might as well be tape.
Nope, it could be an early (?) sampler, an 8-bit (possibly) analog-to-digital converter to record, and digital-to-analog converter to play back, but the hook-up seems analog...
