Copy files from server 1 to local box?

I've tried scp and smbclient with no luck.

I'm trying to copy my files from a MyBookWorld drive ( standalone file server ) to a local linux box. I can use file sharing and so drag / drop from a gui but that's painfully slow since it has to make more network trips that way ( I have about 500 gigs of files to copy )....

I am having trouble with the above commands due to 1) being a newb and 2) access issues to the MyBookWorld server.

Has anyone any advice on how to do this?

edit: access issues means that the Mybookworld drive disallows port 22

hi,

what services are supported by the MyBookWorld server ?
what ever answer we come up with has to work with one of those.

Is it a web based service ? if so look at wget.

Thanks for the reply.

I'm not totally sure about what services are available but I assume Samba since it's basically running with a dulled-down version of linux and the drive shows up on a windows network.

There are various hacks out there but I have not been able to get anything to work as far as getting into the box and finding out what services or what version of linux.

I'm hoping someone else might have experience with this same drive <big smiles >

Yes and no. That's one of the sites that I've been to but I've not yet been able to get anything to work. I'm giving everything a second run as we speak
