copy file whose file name containing special characters from Linux to Window

I am trying to copy a folder consisting of quite a few files whose file names contain special characters such as :, ? from Linux to Window.
How should I do?

well you could start by telling us how you're trying to copy. there are a million ways to copy a file between two systems. Is there a network connection involved? As awesome as we are, we aren't psychic.

Personally I'd initially look to use winscp from windows to pull to file back over scp. Shouldn't be any issues there with naming.

I'm sorry, but I had to quote it as it made me a nice day (and I'll use it sometimes too) :D

I knew you'd do that. ;)

Since Windows file-systems are more limited in the characters they support than *nix ones, you're probably going to have to rename the files so that they don't contain any illegal ones.

Although it was really designed for going the other way, detox is one program that might be of assistance.
