copy a content of screen while X windows system is being loaded

hello all.

is there any possibility to copy a content of screen while X windows system is being loaded?

when i type startx, i can see that some information about my video card, monitor etc is displayed on screen, but then KDE is loading and i can't read it (Note: after i log out of the KDE, SHIFT+PgUP doesn't work and i can't scroll up to read it)

thanks in advance

You can find it in /var/log/XFree86.0.log

i'm using Slack 7.1. so when i searched for XFree86.0.log (# whereis XFree86.0.log ), there was no XFree86.0.log file at all. seems like Slack 7.1 stores that kind of info in some other place or file.
