Cooling Linux
Hello X Brothers.
Laptop ASUS K52JR. My OS is Ubuntu 11.10 with KDE (installed kubuntu-desktop), and today when I booted the OS the temp was showing 71 deegres . My question is... Exists a SW for Linux that can help cooling the Processor? When I was using Win 7, the temperature was 44 - 60. I was searching for some solutions like 'acpi' and coretemp modules but no change....If anyone can help I'll appreciate it. Thanks, Best Regards. |
Are you using the default graphics driver or do you have installed the proprietary one from AMD?
I found that the free radeon driver significantly heats up my laptop. |

Well, that rules the graphics chip out. Do you have power-saving options enabled?

Weel that is causing your issue. The Performance profile is causing the CPU to run at full speed every time, even when the poser is not needed. Set that to On-demand.

There is no option like on demand or automatic ... |
Sorry, not a KDE user, can't help with that.
