Converting to Linux

I just now finished downloading MANDRAKE 8.2. This will be my first experience with linux. I have all 3 ISO files (Install, Extra, Supplements (courtesy of linuxiso.org)).

My first Question is do i need to partition the HD to make a new spot for linux or no?

My second question is what CD burner do i use to burn the ISO files?

You will end up needing to make Mandrake it's own patition. It does come with a version you can install into a windows partition called (lin4win i believe), but it's terrible and you don't get nearly the full experience. As for a burner, any will do. Just pop in a blank cd, and then in whatever program you use like NERO, choose burn image from ISO. You should be good to go.

It would be best to set aside a few gigs of HD for linux.

I assume that you are in windows, so any proggie that will burn ISO's will burn the cd's for you. (Nero, NTI, Roxio)

Mandrake has its own partitioning tool, I hear it can non-destrictivly repartition windows partitions. Defrag first though.
