Control Center Message

First I'd like to say, "HI!" to everyone out there in the Linux community. This is my first foray into what looks to be a very promising computer experience. and I look forward to being an active participant in what looks to be an awesome community!

Enough "schmoozing" ...

I'm running Mandrake 9.1 and am TOTALLY new to Linux (go figure). So anyway, I'm poking around the menus and come across the Control Center and I see a list item labeled "Linux Kernel". So I click on it to take a gander at what kind of information will display when I receive the following:

"The kernel configuration could not be read due to the following error:

cannot open /usr/src/linux/arch//config.in for reading

Either your kernel sources contain invalid configuration rules or you just found a bug in the KDE Kernel Configurator."

Should I be worried about this?

Also, is there any such thing as assigning "greater" privileges to some users and not others? And if possible, would I even want to and how would I go about doing this? Or is this too broad a question?

Anyway, thanks for ANY and ALL information in advance!

don't worry at all about control center not finding your kernel config files, it will never be important unless you wish to recompile your kernel which is unlikely as you have just started using linux. Even then you will probably use the defualt config tool and not the one from the kde control center.
