console resolution will not change for newly compiled kernel

Hello,

I recently installed Slackware 8.0 on my Toshiba Satellite. As installed with kernel 2.2.19 everything works fine. I decided to compile kernel 2.4.5 (for reasons unknown) and now when I boot the new kernel the console only uses 640X480 resolution rather than 1024X768. lilo.conf still has 'vga = 791' and the old kernel still boots into a 1024X768 size. I tried compiling the new kernel with video mode selection support but that didn't help. If you can help me get 1024X768 resolution at boot, I would be very thankful....

Did you include virtual frame buffer driver when you compiled the new kernel?

no, it is greyed-out...

I'm assuming I need that...

ok so if you select 'y' for code maturity then framebuffer options are open... and that worked... thank you very much
