console keyboard configuration\ terminal switching off \ faster booting

Hi people

Thanks everybody for the help last time . I have 3 questions .

1. how can i change the console keyboard to ABNT 2 ( i can't even find my question mark)

2. is there a problem if i switch off the computer through the terminal
i have tried it and all items were ok after i started .

3. is there any way to boot and initialize faster
what i mean is all those items during the INIT process , are they really necessary

1. no idea what your'e on about

2. no, running /sbin/poweroff or such like is fine. you could lose any unsaved work... but that's obvious

3. No it's not necessary, but you'll need to decide which services you don't want to load, and only when you KNOW you don't want to use them, you can stop them loading. eg, if you don't use the linxu mail delivery system, and directly use Netscape Mail or somethign instead, you could remove sendmail and so forth. But the services are generally there for a reason, and you need to be very sure before removing them. You could always make a new runlevel. level 4 isn't used, so you could levae your system intact, and create a new runlevel.... all rather ott just to save a few seconds or so....

Thanks a lot for the tip, i'll have to read it . But there's something i forgot to mention before , - the keyboard was ok and then after a lot of messing with the fonts size and other stuff on the Konsole this happend . By the way is there
a way to enlarge the fonts (this was supposed to be a question mark )#
i have 1280x1024 and if i widen the fonts so there i can see what i'm doing the fonts go really crazy .
