Console access program

I'm using Teraterm or Hyperterminal for Console Access from Windows. Which communication program do you recommend to use on Linux platform and, I do appreciate if you can send me the download link together with some instruction.
Thank you

on a linux box, you should be able to simply open up a terminal window and connect to remote host.

on my puter, i do: Applications > Accessories > Terminal

You can also hit "ALT + F2", and type "xterm" to launch a terminal session.

hope that helps.

I use Putty from Windows, in Linux itself I can just use a terminal or login via bash. The ssh command can be used to login into remote console sessions.

I do like putty, it makes things very easy, like tunnelling which I use for my VNC sessions. I also use putty for device configuration where I work, we use a couple of devices types that require serial configuration and putty handles that too, so no more need for hyper terminal.

depending on what you mean by console access.. like console access to a router ? look at minicom.

Assuming you're in the graphical server right now (gnome, kde, etc) try ctrl-alt-F1. This will take you to the command line. From here after you log in again you can type "ssh" to log in to a remote ssh server or "telnet" to do the same for telnet, etc.

Hope this helps.

The two closest equivalents to those in Linux would be minicom, which tends to be included with most Linux distros, or its bigger, stronger, better brother, C-Kermit, which is seldom included with distributions.
