Question connectivity or not connectivity

I use a 56k dial up modem with kppp and when running internet programs...eg amule, kget etc. After 2 hours of connectivity I get disconnected by my ISP... so the modem redials, but the programs dont realise they've been disconnected and so I have to manually reconnect the software to the servers. Which is a pain in the arse because I cant leave amule overnight to suprise me in the morning with a few mp3's.

Any one have any ideas, suggestions?

thanks

ric
