Connection refused error with uploading using ftp

I now have a .tar.gz that has been created during my script, and finnaly i need to upload it via ftp to my computer, but i am unable to because i keep getting the "Connection refused" error, despite the fact that all the syntax appears to be right. in a bout of frustration, i have deleted the code and now no longer have what i had written.. so could someone please let me know the syntax to upload a file to a server? Thanks in advance.
I am aware that other threads have been started about this issue but I am trying to ftp from an iPhone to a computer...

Hello,

Normally, an error that says "Connection Refused" means that you can not connect to the service that you are attempting to connect to. What FTP service are you using on your computer? Did you open the correct ports in iptables? Also, could you show us the commands that you are using to send the file over to your computer? Lastly, what distribution are you using?

Cheers,

Josh

Hi, DuskFall,

I have two questions for you. The first is the Linux distribution you're using on your ftp server. The second question is the name and version of the ftp server package installed on that server. vsftpd is a popular package, but others exist.

Once we know how our ftp server is set up, we can proceed. But, my first guess is that you can't send because there's nothing on the server ready to receive.

Good Luck!

Sorry, i'm not using a linux machine... i'm using OSX, because i thought they were very closely structured and they both ran bash, i thought i'd come here for help...

OSX is apple's OS.

It is not open source, as linux is.

Please address your problems to apple.

Sorry I can not help you further.

Best wishes.
