Firstly - A word of caution -

Do not use a NORMAL USB cable to connect these two computers

I repeat

Do not use a NORMAL USB cable to connect these two computers
---------------------------------------------------------------------

You can use a crossover cable - it works just well

once you are done with that -
just go in for some short steps with samba - It is real easy to configure samba - on eaither suse/fedora.

you can burn the USB ports of your computers or even their power supplies

Samba is a way to share files from the two OS' using the SMB protocol thingie.

If you want to execute programs on Suse remotely from Winxp i would look into ssh, which you can run via putty and have access to the CLI on your SUSE box. It can also be setup to allow x-forwarding, so you can open the suse program on windows xp.

Or you can setup a vnc server/client.
