Connecting to the internet through ISDL

Greetings from south africa,

Have just signed up with adsl (cable), but cannot log onto server through Linux. Any suggestions?

Can you give more detail as to the hardware you are using to connect and when you say "server" do you mean the isp? Most of these problems relate to how the connection to the router is made (networking) and DNS resolution. (btw I am ex SA)

Hey, sorry to hear EXSA.

dsl router to connect

server = isp (Telkom)

PC sees the router when I ping, but cannot connect to network (other PC), or adsl connection

I assume that the pc attached to the lan side of the router is able to connect since you are able to ping it. Do you have a second ethernet card to which the other pc('s) are connected? Have you set the the DNS address that Telkom should have provided in /etc/resolv.conf?
