Connecting to Internet by setting static ip

I setup a static ip (192.168....) for my host. Since I am now not going through dhcp, how will I determine the gateway ip, and how can I get connected to Internet (since it no longer a dhcp connection)?

No idea, since you've provided no details.

What are you connected TO? How is your network topology set up? What makes the connection to the internet? If you're talking about a typical home router, your default gateway should just be the address of the router, usually 192.168.1.1 It does the connection/lookups to the rest of the world.
