connecting to internet

This is probably a dumb question, but I've looked all over and have come close to the answer but not quite there. I recently installed mandrake 9.1 on my desktop and am having trouble connecting to the internet with a cable modem. Any help would be useful. Thanks

What type of cable modem? is it USB?

Quick and easy answer is to connect it via an ethernet cable to your NIC from its ethernet port. If it doesn't have one, contact your provoder and ask for on that does have.
