connecting to guest OS in vmware
 
hi. i have just completed my winxp installation in vmware the host is slack12.0 I chose BRIDGE NETWORKING.. but i cant connect from my slack to windows (guest OS) ---i just want to copy my files from slack to its guest OS. . .

hi, im not sure if it will work for u... but if you can run internet on both host and guest then u can try ftp...

If u can ping both OS from eachother, then FTP might be a solution... just download a free FTP software from itnternet for Windows and access yor Linux from there....

I'd suspect the windows firewall as the most likely culprit (it's on by default in xp sp2). You said you're trying to connect to windows from slack, so did you set up a share on the windows box and make sure the windows firewall's got an exception for "client for microsoft network" ?

Incidentally, the windows firewall also filters inbound ICMP echo requests by default.

how can i dsable that? il configure win firewall? btw i am only using SP 1 :)
