I have a Red Hat Enterprise Linux Client release 5.3 virtual machine (VM). It needs to authenticate user logins against a Windows 2008 Server Active Directory. How do I do that?
I have setup "Identity Management for Unix" on the Windows 2008 Active Directory.
What do I need to do in my Linux VM? Can anyone provide detailed simple instructions for a Linux newbie? Also, do I need a "Linux server"? My VM is not a "server" VM.
Someone suggested that I look into using samba and PAM (see http://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samb...tive_Directory
). The website talks about using Windows 2003 server. I don't know if it works for 2008. Also, since samba is not installed in my VM, I would need to get the rpm(s). There appears to be many flavors of samba and I don't know which ones I need. Also, are there other packages that I would need?
I didn't know which forum to pose the question, so excuse me if this is not the correct one.
