connect to the internet with a smartax mt880 adsl router

hi there at linuxquestions.org

i'm a linux newbie , i need to connect to the internet with my huawei smartax mt880 adsl router from a linux redhat 9 box ,

- I can get into the router as user admin / admin at address 192.168.1.1
- I get missed in between pppd setup & my kernel modules insertion . . .
- can I find a clear step by step guide to get me connected to the internet ?

Not without knowing which ISP you are trying to connect to (and any username and password required by the ISP!). Which ISP are you using?

Do you have a special reason for using pppd? The usual thing is to set up the modem/router independently of any systems on its LAN interface.
