I want to download and burn an installation cd of gentoo , at their website the options offered are as follow Gentoo 2008.0 Universal install CD (up to 600 megabytes depending on arch) hppa ppc/ppc64 sparc64 Usually when I download a linux distro I pick up i386 architecture. But I do not know if from the options offered there is one equivalent with the i386.Any help will be appreciated. |
You want the i686 for x86.
Gentoo 2008.0 LiveCD (up to 710 megabytes depending on arch) i686 amd64 |

Thank you for your answer but is this live also and installable version?

There currently are two Installation CDs available:
- The Installer LiveCD contains everything you need to install Gentoo. It provides a graphical environment, a graphical as well as console based installer which automatically carries out the installation for you, and of course, the installation instructions for your architecture. - The Minimal Installation CD contains only a minimal environment that allows you to boot up and configure your network so you can connect to the Internet. It does not contain any additional files and cannot be used during the current installation approach. http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/handboo...?part=1&chap=2 According to the documentation, it looks like you can use the LiveCD for the full install. |
Thanks once more
