Configuring X for Radeon 3650 [SOLVED]
Hi all,
I'm using Slackware for a few months, and the time has came when I'm not satisfied with only a working desktop - I want a working videocard! Unfortunately I can't do it myself. As you might noticed in the title, I have an ATI Radeon HD 3650 card. I googled some phrases like the title, got some guides, tried them, but the driver still doesn't work properly (only about 700 frames/5 sec) :( If somebody could help me how to configure X, I would be really grateful. Thanks in advance, and forgive my weak English. |
Your driver should be radeonhd or fglrx (proprietary).
and you need to write a 'modern' xorg.conf (search the Debian site or post Xorg.log) #man radeonhd |
It's pretty simple with Slackware 13.0. If you want 3D acceleration, you need to use the proprietary fglrx driver, specifically this one: https://a248.e.akamai.net/f/674/9206...x86.x86_64.run
You need to download the file and then, as the root user, you have to run that file. From a terminal, change to the directory that you downloaded the file to and run (as root) 'sh ./ati-driver-installer-9-11-x86.x86_64.run --buildpkg Slackware/All' This will create two Slackware packages in that same directory. These can be installed with the installpkg command. You would then run 'aticonfig --initial' and it will create an initial xorg.conf file. Reboot and cross your fingers, and when your machine comes back up, you should be running with the proprietary drivers. Adam |
OK
FGLRX is perfect!
Thanks both of you! How can I add "solved" to the header? EDIT: Ah, this's something I could do myself!!! :) |
