configuring syslog client and transfering log from windows xp


how to configure a syslog client on ubuntu I don't have a syslog.conf file in ubunut client.also how to transfer log from windows xp to syslog server

Hi,

For Debian like distros (Ubuntu is one of them) syslog was replaced by rsyslog.
Config files for 4.2.0-2ubuntu8 rsyslog package are :

/etc/rsyslog.d
/etc/logcheck/ignore.d.server/rsyslog
/etc/rsyslog.conf
/etc/logrotate.d/rsyslog
/etc/init/rsyslog.conf
/etc/init/dmesg.conf
