Introduction to Linux - A Hands on Guide
This guide was created as an overview of the Linux Operating System, geared toward new users as an exploration tour and getting started guide, with exercises at the end of each chapter.
For more advanced trainees it can be a desktop reference, and a collection of the base knowledge needed to proceed with system and network administration. This book contains many real life examples derived from the author's experience as a Linux system and network administrator, trainer and consultant. They hope these examples will help you to get a better understanding of the Linux system and that you feel encouraged to try out things on your own.

Last night I successfully installed Yellowdog 3.0.1 on my Performa 6360, but I have a couple of questions about tweaking my installation.
The Performa 6360 has 1 MB video RAM, which is integrated onto the logic board. During start up it identifies this video device as "Valkyrie". I checked the list of available video drivers under Display Settings, but it does not list this particular flavour. For video output the system is currently set to Generic OF compatible (for video card type) and the selected driver is fbdev. What is my best option for this video device? As well, the current configuration doesn't appear to allow me to set anything above 256 colours at 640 x 480, whereas on the OS 9.1 partition this same setting allows me thousands of colours.
In my Performa 6360 there is a Sonnet G3 400 processor card which resides in the L2 cache slot. At start up time, it only identifies the original stock processor, which is a PowerPC 603e 160 MHz. Is there a driver available for this upgrade card to allow me to use this upgrade card while running Yellowdog Linux?
