How do configure things so I don't have to enter adsl-setup at each login? Also, my ppp0 interface times out at boot up; is that related to needing to reset my adsl-start each time?

Thanks so much for getting me to the web. I am posting this from linux. My next set of questions may be configuring and installing mutt, but I haven't exhausted my own resources yet. I also notice that my screen is blurrier here in netscape than on windows explorer, though the intial gnome screens seem very crisp. Lots to learn.

John

In the setup

adsl-setup

it asks you if you want to start it up on boot, you should use that option.

David:

I added the line adsl-start to
/etc/rc.local
which seems to get it to load on start up. I don't think there is an option to load on boot that appears in adsl-setup.

*BUT*

my boot process still hangs on
interface ppp0

I thought that getting the adsl to starat on boot would solve it. (Maybe on my next boot it will work....)

What is ppp0 doing, and how do I get it to do what it has to do at boot?

Thanks again,
John

run netcfg and remove the interface ppp0 or just set it not to come up on boot

you may not have netcfg..

if you don't then edit /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-ppp0

change this line

ONBOOT=yes

to no
