When you setup a dialup connection, there is a tab to configure the device and a drop-down menu within that in which you can pick which port (ttyS*) to use. This is about the same in Gnome as well I believe. Just pick which one you wanna use and it'll use that one.

ya on the drop down menu it only goes ttyS3 and i know for a fact that my modem is on ttyS4, so how do i get that. being that ttyS4 is not an option on the pull down menu?

thanks for your help

it would be easier to set it up on another port if possible.. can you change the port assignment of the card, if it has jumpers...

alright, but would it be easier to just swith the card out of the current slot its in? or is that what switching the jumpers is?
im a huge newbie if you hadnt noticed
thanks again
