Configuring Midnight Commander colors...

I did as the man page said- edit the initialization file- add [Colors] section to it. I did so on ~/.mc/ini - i added the colors section with tweaked example from man page. But the ini file gets overwritten and my lines disappear. Looked up /usr/share/mc for an ini file there but there isn't any. So i need some help.

Here's the man pages as html:
http://www.chm.tu-dresden.de/edv/mc/mc4.5/manual1.html

I changed the permission on ini file so it can't be written (chmod u-w ini), but i still can't change the blue background color to my preferance, the syntax kills me. Anyone knows how to do it?

Here is a blog that has a script you can download to change the colors in MC. His colors are pretty wild but running the script to modify your mc.ini will show you the correct syntax.
