configuring KDE - abbreviated file names length

Can anyone direct me how to configure my desktop and folder displaying of file names in KDE - currently the end of all file names are abbreviated with "..." after about 15 characters. I would like to be able to change this to 20 or 30 characters, especially since I view many of my files in "small icons" mode and there is no reason to abbreviate them, it just makes them difficult to read fully.
Any advice where to confiure this setting? Same thing for the desktop, but they get abbreviated after just 9 characters...

I'm using Xandros linux 3 but am uncertain of which KDE version, probably 3.2 or 3.3, but I don't know where to find this out

Thanks!
jet

I can't remember off the top of my head, but it has to deal with how many rows of the filename that konqueror displays.

Just go into the control center and check each and every config item, you'll find it, it's not hard. plus you will learn a whole lot more about KDE.

also check the KDE website kde.org

Before I posted I went through what I believe was absolutely everything in the control center and could not find it. I see I am using KDE 3.3 (didn't notice at first that it tells me when I start control center), and I've customized many of the things to my liking, but still can't find anything about text lenght, rows or anything like that. Maybe I'm just missing it, I'll keep looking, but if anyone knows off hand that would be nice.
Thanks, jet

it's there, I promise. I changed it myself (kde 3.3) not long ago.

it wouldn't be gone depending on which distro or the fact I used xandros' first-run configurator thing would it? I'll look for another 20 minutes or so.

I'm quite certain no where in the control center, at least not on xandros the way it set things up here. Is there a file I can edit to change this setting?

also, there seem to be a number of possible configuration settings that I do not see available - is it possible in KDE to adjust the icon spacing on the desktop? I see an adjustment of icon size but nothing anywhere for spacing. Maybe they're available in v3.4?

I also have problem, windows has the ability to configure these but KDE has not made them yet, too bad.
