configuring


i was wondering how to configure red hat 9.0 as a webserver for my site. i have no clue how to do this so can someone help me.

You will need a webserver, Apache is the best and there should be RPM's for it either available on your distribution, or on the net, or you can build it yourself.

If you have any problems with the installation or configuration post back here and I should be able to help you out.

i installed all the server packages when i installed RH 9...

well in that case you need to locate your httpd.conf file, usually in /var/www or /etc/ or something simmilar, if it aint there do

as root

# updatedb
# locate httpd.conf

and it will show you where it is. you also need to start the apache service, usually with

# apachectl start

but dont bother starting the service until after you have edited your conf file and changed it to suit your needs.
