Question Configure the Directory server in a way to authenticate and unlock a user account

Hi All,

I just need the right path to solve my problem. I have configured the entire Directory server, created domains, users. OU's and Password policies and Lockout policies but i cant figure it out the necessary LDAP Attributes for them in my user object.

My Requirements:

1.I wish to do authenticate a Red Hat Directory User in my Windows machine or any Linux machine.
2.Perform wrong password Tries to make my account locked.
3.Using java application access the Directory Server open the locked out user account and change the necessary LDAP Attribute to make the account unlocked.

Please any one who knowing the way to achieve this requirement plz guide me the necessary steps to do.

Thanks in advance

Now when you have already configure every possible thing, I am surprised why is it that you do not know how to implement general policy to your domain users using your domain server.

All the things you are looking for can be done using group policy once you configure a domain server.
Now I hope I have given you enough information.

I wont be able to help you until and unless you help me with complete info...now what exactly do you mean by directory server?

Active directory or LDAP server.
Please provide with complete info so that I can understand your problem. If possible please provide me with the link of the manual you used to configure.

Hi Deepak,

Sorry for the incomplete question, ok this is what i am doing right now.

My Work is on RED HAT DIRECTORY SERVER 8.1 which is similar to ACTIVE DIRECTORY. I Know ACTIVE DIRECTORY well and good, But i am newbie to linux. Right now i have configured RED HAT DIRECTORY SERVER in my RHEL server. I have created domains,OU's,User Accounts and also IP hosts. But i cant make my RED HAT DIRECTORY SERVER to perform Authentication to my other Client Systems like ACTIVE DIRECTORY. I hope you got my point. (i.e) we can login our ACTIVE DIRECTORY users into our domain computers right ??

So i am asking that i need steps to configure the RED HAT DIRECTORY SERVER to do the same process then only i can login my domain user into my domain computers, and then only i can perform wrong credential tries to lockout my account, and then only i can change the Exact LDAP Attribute to unlock it.

I Hope you are clear if not please tell me i try to convey my problem even simple.

Thanks.

If this is what you are looking for

http://www.golinuxhub.com/2012/08/sa...directory.html

Once you configure your domain server on samba4 then you can lock or unlock your client users and perform other policies as well.

But again the things you are trying to do using a Red Hat Directory Server, I don't think you are on the correct way for what you are looking for exactly. That is a LDAP server and not a domain server.
