Question ./configure problem & packages?

I've just installed Mandrake 10.0 download Edition, & i'd like to compile some source.
Now, i know the process of compiling source, but whenever i use: "./configure"
i get: "bash: ./configure: No such file or directory"
I have installed the default developement packages, but what other packages could be missing??

Thanks.

i never saw that before..

Go in Mandrake Control Center and go in Packages section and Install new packages and install all developpement's packages

Re-try ./configure now ...

have you tried installing GCC and library files? That might help you. Try using the RPM find web-site: www.rpmfind.net

Lightbulb Wow

I got that same exact message when trying to install 'RAR' using a 5 step insall method. That(./configure) incidentally was step 3, the 4th was 'make'. What I did was just skip to the 5th step because the 'make' file already existed. The 5th step for me was type the command...
su -c "make install" and 'RAR' now works fine.
