configure network connection
 
installed mandriva 2011.
no internet connection.

in the confiqure network box
set for ppp

automatic

its asking me for the dchp client ID
and DNS server

what is this and what do I put in there ?

What kind of network are you trying to create.. can you please provide us the topology or is it that you are just trying to connect to the internet?

dsl modem
linksys router

8 port switch

just trying to get this one system to connect to the internet.
its a new install of mandriva 2011

all my other systems on my home lan connect ok

after thought:
I think I need to set it up to a eather0 connection, not ppp

never used mandrava before.

its still asking for the dchp client ID.
what is that ?
found out that the dns server is the ip address on my router.
