Hey Guys,

Just In case, I have kernel 2.4.27-1-386, an in the site http://ipw2200.sourceforge.net says that I have to build a kernel into 2.6+ with driver code. does exist any other procedure easier than this? I had never built a kernel, and I am very afraid to screw it up.

Getting a 2.6 series kernel should be easy via apt-get or synaptic. I am pretty sure you won't have to compile a 2.6 series kernel from source for a debian. I believe there are deb packages for intel pro wireless cards available from the project website.

# apt-get upgrade kernel

should be fine...

Tux,

Hi Guys,

I just use the following diretives: http://www.kriptopolis.org/node/673 (sorry is in spanish)
And everything was OK except that the wireless card didnt apear, probably I use a more updated version of the firmware.

But, I have a question for you guys: May I build a kernel lighter for my Dell i600m?
The thing is with this new kernel the Power Mgmt works fine, but I think I could profite more resources with a kernel that have only what I need. any suggestion or site for a laptop user?

Salu2!
