./configure in ....../build

Mandriva Spring 2008 free + ndiswrapper. The latter says about installation of ndiswrapper that /lib/modules/2.6.22.9-laptop-1mdv/build must contain "include" directory and ./configure file. The latter is not there. Question: How do I get it in?
Why "./" in front of configure?
best regards

"./configure" is a command that configures the software for the computer it's being run on. "./" means "the current directory".

Is ndiswrapper not available through Mandriva's package manager? Using it is the prefered way of installing software.

Welcome to LQ.

I think you mean '.config' and not './configure'

'.config' is a "hidden file" and not visible unless
you use the mode "show hidden files"

Regards

ndiswrapper is available in version 1.47 with Linux 2008 Spring Free, but it was recommended in many places to get the newest version which is 1.53. And it helped - I could not make an earlier downloaded version work with ACX111 wifi card and Livebox router. Now it works.

Right: Before I send my q. I tried a number of install/deinstall/reinstall packages without finding .config.
Of course I dont know which one worked, but after trying with your "ls -a" I found .config and the installation of ndiswrapper went fine.
Amazing how much has been written on www concerning installation of ndiswrapper and then see how simple it is in ndiswrapper's INSTALL-file.
Next thing will be to install the Linux driver for an Edimax wifi card on my other (desktop)comp. Do you know of a simple description of that?
Somm"e tider er det svaert med Linux.
regards
