Config-ide

Hi,

I compiled my kernel to 2.6.17.1. I had no problems. When checking the /boot directory I found these files:

$ config-ide-2.6.12.4
$ vmlinuz-ide-2.6.12.4
$ diag1.img

At my lilo.conf:

image = /boot/bzImage
root=/dev/hda2
label=Linux_Slamd64
read-only

So, are those 3 files safe to delete?

How can I generate the file config-ide-2.6.17.1 ?

Thank you.

Since I've never run Slamd64, I'm guessing.

Is vmlinuz-ide-2.6.12.4 the default kernel?
Is diag1.img an initrd image, or what?
What are the full contents of /boot and /etc/lilo.conf ?

You can create config-ide-2.6.17.1 simply by copying the .config file from your ./linux-2.6.17.1 directory. Assuming it's /usr/src/linux-2.6.17.1/ issue "cp /usr/src/linux-2.6.17.1/.config /boot/config-ide-2.6.17.1" or to whatever path you desire.
