Config files that need modification??

I realise that deleting some packages on CD1 mite actually cause some possible dependencies on CD's 2,3,4, 5 unstable....but the objective i guess, is to :

1. overcome dependencies & make the install
2. figure out the barest essential packages that mite be needed when i actually go about striping & customizing my OS...

It sounds like you are interested in something like Linux from Scratch.

I don't know about Fedora, but things like Debian and Knoppix can be "remastered". But I've never done this and don't know what it entails...
