computer won't start
Hi, I'm new to Linux, my friend put it on my dell and i've been loving it, but my computer won't start. I have the newest version of Fedora, I think.
I left it on overnight, and I guess the battery ran out, and when I plugged it in in the morning, it wasn't working properly. It took about ten minutes to go through the startup screens, but then it ends with this: /: UNEXPECTED INCONSISTENCY; RUN fsck MANUALLY. (i.e., without -a or -p options) *** An error occurred during the file system check. *** Dropping you to a shell; the system will reboot *** when you leave the shell *** Warning -- SELinuc is active *** Disabling security enforcement for system recovery. *** Run 'sentenceforce 1' to reenable. Give root password for maintenance (or type Control-D to continue): My friend suggested fsck /dev/hda1 but nothing happened. Any suggestions would be excellent. Thanks. |
Hi, and welcome to LQ!
You did login as root, and got to a prompt, right? Cheers, Tink |
Yes, but i don't know what to put in.
|
Can you post what your prompt looks like? And the messages before it?
Kind of like a screen-shot ... Cheers, Tink |
how do you do that? in have pics, but how do i put them up? do i have to find some kind of hosting site, like flickr?

I thought that maybe, if it's not way too much information, it
would be easiest to try and type it in a code-block.... Cheers Tink |
