Computer name/Domain name changing

I've successfully setup RedHat 9 now, but after I'm all done, I want to change the computer name, and domain name.

I have sendmail going, and am using the box for an internet router, but have yet to set up the DNS(still have to figure that one out...)

Where all do I need to look to change these two things?

Thanks

To change the hostname, try:

man hostname

nice one

You will have to edit your /etc/hosts file and there is another file which is RedHat specific and I don't remember exactly which one is it.

You'll need to perform the following:

- type: hostname <new_hostname>
- edit /etc/sysconfig/network: The hostname entry is read during system bootup, and reset
- edit /etc/hosts: your old hostname should no longer refer to 127.0.0.1, so replace it with your new hostname.

Hope this helps!

In Xwindows you can change the hostname without any of the daemons complaining.
