computer freezes when installing RH 8.0

I am attempting to install RH 8.0 on my PC. I partitioned the disk w/ 4GB for windows and 2GB for RH linux. I installed windows 98 fine, but my computer freezes right before the packages are installed from the linux CD. It says formatting disk, but nothing happens after that. I left it on for hours and it didnt move.

i've installed it successfully in the lab at school and I dont get it.
any ideas?

Does RH 8 provide you with some output about what
it's ACTUALLY doing? Try hitting Alt+F<n> with n=2,..,9

it says its: formatting/ file system

and i have to power off using the button on the PC

i'll try doing the alt-F thing

what's the size of your physical ram and your swap partition?

my ram is 160MB and I only defined the root partition.
I just want to get familiarized w/Linux so no need to create other partitions
