completely lost on WINE

I just downloaded and installed WINE and i have no clue what to do now. I just got it so i can run DVD Shrink.
Can someone explain how to use it or know where i can find a good tutorial?

Go to:

http://www.winehq.com

On the left hand side you'll see Support box. Under that is a documentation link. Although the documentation isn't the best, it'll get you started. Also, don't forget about the man pages (type "man wine" in a console without the quotes) that get installed. Hope this helps....

Or else, you could go here: http://www.von-thadden.de/Joachim/Wi....html#download and download winetools. If you have an rpm based distro it will be even easier installing the program, using the .rpm file. Then running winetools will give you a set of options and automaticaly download, configure and install various windows software, including dvdshrink. I run google earth this way.

Actually I have little knowledge of wine myself too but I find winetools surprisingly easy.

I never read any documentation about wine and got it running fine - it just takes a little work.

If you want it nice and easy you can buy a copy of codeweavers crossover wine which has a nice gui installer and now does bottles to put new apps in their own safe little environment. It's cheap and well worth the money... And your money is going toward the wine project and helping for better windos support in the future.
