Type into a terminal
Code:
lspci | grep -i VGA

Compiz will Always be a bit slow on a laptop

Compiz-fusion runs on the GPU and not the cpu so for a laptop with a"built-in" chip they are about one in the same.

and will be slow.

heres the output:

00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Mobile GM965/GL960 Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 03)

On the previous fedora version I was able to work around with the Desktop Effects but I think things have changed since then. I really hope I can get this working.

Thanks for the replies.

Hi arunvk,

I met the same problem as yours and fixed it this way :

When you log in fedora 12 gnome or XFCE with compiz enabled, the speed is dramatically slow. To fix this,go to compiz-fusion icon, click on the right mouse button, choose "Compiz Options" and enable "Loose Binding" and "Indirect Rendering". After this my compiz on gnome and XFCE became very very fast.

Hope this will help

deltay
