hi,
i've recently got my compiz settings almost right for me except even with zoom set to 2.0/max my cude doesn't zoom out as far or move like these youtube videos for example http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eYU4Q...1&feature=fvwp
a little niggle i know but i am desperate to get my laptop doin this oh if it helps my laptop is a fujitsu amilo li3710
my graphics card is a Mobile Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500M. may sound stupid but could it be that the card is s**t so its not capable of some effects?
if your card will do 3D it should do the effects. It's a setting in compiz that needs to be changed. Have a look in rotate cube settings. I know it's in there. I just can't remember where.

4500M actually isn't bad considering it's onboard. It's no GTX200 series but still, should handle it with no problems. Agreed it's a setting in Compiz; is your version of Compiz up to date?
played around for a while last night and there's definitely something wrong with the 3d windows option as they don't lift of cube etc etc,
strange really considerin all my compiz is from karmics repo (usin mint 8),
thanks for the help people but looks like we're at a dead end

The 3D windows coming off the cube is a different setting entirely. Do you have both plugins-main and plugins-extra installed?

Hey now, this is Linux; there are no dead-ends, only temporary road-blocks.
If you want, dig up your Default.ini config file (should be in something like /home/$USER/.config/compiz/compizconfig) and post it, along with any other settings you can think of; I know it's damn frustrating when you know something "should" work but doesn't.
yeah got both plugins,
as for default.ini can't find it anywhere in /home/.compiz i have only got a session folder which has 3 files named in numbers and the compizconfig folder on filesystem only gives me this:
the reason i couldn't move my cube (or triangle at moment) is that i didn't know i had to press CTRL+ALT+LEFT MOUSE BUTTON
thanks again for all you help is there any other add-ons that you'd recommend the unsupported plugins are a bit lame in my opinion
i like the idea of items in my cube but not keen on fish or gears.
