compiz and no shutdown options in KDE - a workaround (NOT poweroff)?

hey

sometime ago i posted about lacking the shutdown options in kde on my mandriva one 2008. i found out this is a compiz issue, checked (tried running a kde session without compiz) and it worked, i.e. the shutdown options were there.

i remember seeing a workaround for this on some ubuntu related forum but cant find it now.. i think it involved editing some kdm/gdm script..

if anyone knows about a workaround for this, id be happy if you let me know
