compiling source question
 

I just made it compiling my first program from source (mplayer)

But it takes way too much time in my opinion.
is this normal? it took me like 10min or more to compile it!

That sounds about right on a decent type system. I think when I'm compiling on my 500mhz system it takes about 10 to 12 minutes.

Ask finegan how long it took to compile Firebird on his SSP20 which is I think 90-110mhz. Think he said it took 14 hours.. ;)
