Compiling & the install file
 

Hello,

I have been trying to compile programs. I have tried avg anitvirus, calendars, tuxpaint and more. Everytime I type the command tar -zxvf avgantivirus or tar -zxvf calendar, there is never the install file, configure file or I need dependencies.

I am sick and tired of trying to install. The failed dependencies happen with RPM packages too. It happens with everything I have downloaded.

Can someone please tell me a site (with whole and complete packages or .tar.gz) or send me some programs that I can practise installing into the source code or extracting from the RPM packages etc, please?

I have Fedora Core 2 (we use this at class).

Any help would be most appreciated.
