Question Compiling and Installing WINE under Fedora FC2 -- Need More Help


Ok, Im very new to Linux, and Havent really compiled anything myself before

I have downloaded Wine-20040716.tar.gz

What now??? I have run Wine before on a Knoppix HDD install and have loved how it works, and Would like the same on My current Fedora FCD install

user@machine$ cd Wine-20040716
user@machine$ ./configure
user@machine$ make 
user@machine$ su
Password:
root@machine# make install
root@machine# exit
user@machine$ wineprefixcreate
You should be good. Install your apps, and go!

make clean at the end saves some space and cleans the directory up a bit too.

Question

Ok I figured It out, But hit another Bump

This Is where I am

[johnpaine@localhost johnpaine]$ cd wine-20040716
[johnpaine@localhost wine-20040716]$ ./configure

you need to install gcc compilers...

google em for dl and install instructions.

You should be able to find gcc on you Fedora cds also (will save you a lot of trouble with dependencies if you use the install/uninstall tool)
