Compiling a program OK -> how do I run it?

I have a really stupid question. I downloaded the tarball for a MOD tracker called VoodooTracker, and then untarred it and ran the following:
./configure
make

I get a couple of screens full of "yada yada" but apparently no error messages, so I suppose I compiled it OK. Now my question is, how do I actually run the program? The README and INSTALL files don't say anything about that. In general, how do you know where the compiled binaries go? Thanks, if anyone can help me...

After "make" you have to run:
Code:
make install
to copy the compiled binaries in their final location (usually under /usr/local/). You can change the installation location using the --prefix=/some/dir with the ./configure script.

Cheers,

I ran
Code:
make install
and then checked in /usr/local/ and found the program, so thanks a bunch! Don't know anything about the linux file system, so I had no idea the binaries go in the /usr/local/ directory.

Ones that were installed by your distro mostly go in /usr/bin. Ones you install from source yourself mostly go in /usr/local/bin.

Some others go in other places, like KDE binaries tend to go in /opt/kde/bin for some reason.
