Compile sound drivers question

Trying to install soundcard for KDE. I have the drivers uncompressed. The files are in a .o format (native windows noob so i have no idea what these mean). Friend tells me I need to compile them.

Reading a different post it tells me to start with ./configure.
When I type ./configure it tells me -bash: ./configure: No such file or directory.

What am i doing incorrect?

Thanks muches

Please try to give as much detailed information as possible about your computer. That's always a good start. A .o file is usually a compiled file when it comes to drivers. There is a directory that you need to put it in, I'm not sure which directory it is, though. After that, you'll need to run a sound card configuring program to install the card. To do this, click on the icon of the shell on the bottom of the screen (there will be text when you put your mouse over it calling it "Konsole") and click on it. When the screen comes up, try typing alsaconf or artsconfig in the window. Alsaconf will try to set up your card automatically. I hope this helped. Maybe someone who is more familiar with KDE can help with the command for getting aRts to configure a card.
