commands disabled from remote?

I am using an SSH client to run commands on a RH 8 machine from another machine. It appears that certian commands are disbaled. For instance, I tried to reboot using shutdown -r now, but attempting that command is returning a "command not found" error from Linux. Are there some commands you cannot execute from remote via a shell? Any insight would be appreciated.

It looks like the proper directories are not in your PATH.
