Hello,

I am starting a new project on a Linux Red Hat Enterprise 3 (WS) Server with 3 80 Gig Hard drives.

How do I invoke a command line prompt so that I can start to enter commands and install applications ?

Start the machine, log-in, start commanding away...

as said above u need to login and start thr commandline
whats the problem out there???

ptreves, you must be a rare breed, most people find it essayer to find the command line (by total accident), then it is to use it :D

heres the overly hard (yet only way i can tell you .. as we all need to know more about WHAT desktop you use (kde, gnome, or "other") ...

and here it is!: pop a live linux cd into the cdrom drive, set boot from cdrom, once you are on, mount and chroot into your system (after seating up, and loading the required modules for the kernel on the cd)

then go pluck away ... tho this way is not recommended, unless its an emergency, as it just takes so long (boot, reboot, boot, reboot!) ... and a few other minor things .. but if you install from binary, then there shouldn't be any problem at all

"the other way" :::
if you are lucky just press (ctrl alt del) and prey to the penguin you don't have a *dm service running (or prey it crashes)

There are a number of ways to find terminal.
One of the easiest being right click on your desktop and select terminal.

Is that what you want?

Launch from the task bar - Terminal command line?
Main menu/System Tools/Terminal?

Once you get there, you may want some help :)

Your problem is not clear please provide some details for understanding

are u talking about installing redhat through commandline

u ned the installlation CDS for that.
pl. elaborate ur problem before prople here go nuts regarding ur post
