Unhappy command to perform the same action, that is done by middle-button of mouse???

Hello friends,

My most frequent event of the day is to collect the important concepts I have learnt , in to a text file. M tired off selecting the contents, opening the openoffice.org (txt file) every time and feeding it with the selected contents.

So, I taught to find myself a shortcut key, that calls a self written script which inturn does following tasks itself:

1> open 'OpenOffice.org' writer
2> copy 'selected contents to the file'
3> ask user to enter filename, finally to save it.

I have set the shortcut key to open 'OpenOffice.org'. But I have two problems now

1> how to find the command that gets executed to do the same action as 'the middle button of the mouse does (i.e pasting the selected components to the file)

2> And how to include the GUI shorcut keys (ex: alt+a, alt+z etc....) into the script file.

Help please....

Why do you use an office suite for that task? Do you format the text? Any text editor is much more efficient for this task. The middle mouse button doesn't execute a command. It just creates an event. X server then handles that event and performs a certain action. I don't think you can do that with some kind of script.

Ya obviously i want to format the contents as they might contain some diagrams in it. And any suggestions to handle the events that influence X server... B'Coz as long as i think, finally the text cmds are in action for any things that happen on system as an application.
Isn't that straight??????
